Ferrari 458 Special A

The 458 Speciale A, with its deep Nero colour, was a special edition limited to 499 cars; it is Ferrari’s most powerful Spider. The A stands for ‘aperta’, meaning ‘open’. The V8 engine in the rear of the 458 Speciale is an innovative concept. The 4.5-litre engine produces 605 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. With a power-to-weight ratio of 2.13 kilograms per hp, the 458 Speciale sprints to 100 km/h in a smooth three seconds, and the top speed is 325 km/h (202 mph).

Like all Ferrari special editions, the Ferrari 458 Speciale has been equipped with a range of advanced technical solutions that affect everything from combustion to volumetric and mechanical efficiency. The AutoMotorSport test concluded: “Underpinning everything is the Ferrari 458 Speciale A’s V8 with a Hollywood-ready soundtrack that would make any cinema quake.

Traction control and mechanical rear axle lock mesh so smoothly that the ESP has practically nothing to do. Of course, the 499 units of the Speciale A have long since been sold out, as special edition Ferraris tend to be good investments.”
